Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style Volume 58
Happy Sunday, friends!
It was a week full of celebrations at MWLS. Not only did I turn 40, but Friday also marked three years of sharing with you here on the blog!
In case you missed any of the recent happenings, I’m recapping them for you here. In honor of my birthday, this week I shared 40 random facts about yours truly. I am also throwing it back to one of my past Father’s Day gift guides to help you get a jump start on your gift-giving this year.
And, as always, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite posts from a few of my friends.
So grab your favorite summer beverage, settle in, and join me for the latest week in rewind!
Tidbits From Home
It was a slooooow start to the week. I struggled early on to get back into the swing of things after being sick for what seemed like forever.
And, of course, I swear my to-do list quadrupled while I was down and out. Why oh why does that always seem to be the case?
I’ve been trying to play catch up since, but I already feel so behind this summer. And the season has just begun!
I haven’t planted any flowers yet (a first for me), and this will be the first summer in as long as I can remember that I won’t have a garden.
But, as I’ve shared before, this year I’m focused on giving myself grace. And learning to accept that sometimes I can’t do it all.
Truthfully, no one can.
And that is more than okay. So, flowers or no flowers. Garden or no garden. I’m trying to remind myself to breathe, enjoy the summer, and not get overwhelmed by all the things on my big, long list.
On Friday, I celebrated my 40th birthday. My co-workers surprised me by decorating my office with photos and streamers. We also enjoyed birthday bagels, and they spoiled me by filling a gift bag with all my favorite snacks and drinks.
I capped off my birthday celebration with a quiet night in with Kirk and the girls. We ordered takeout from my favorite local burger joint and indulged in a slice of cookie cake with ice cream.
Midwest Life And Style Turns 3
AND…as I mentioned in my intro, Friday also marked the 3rd anniversary of blogging here at MWLS. If you had asked me five years ago about becoming a blogger I likely would have laughed at you.
And now? Now, I can’t remember what life was like before I started this adventure.
These last three years have been such a blessing. I’ve met and made incredible friends and had opportunities to work with some of my favorite brands.
All while sharing what I love with you…all the things that make a house a home.
Thank you all for being here and cheering me on every step of the way. Whether you have been here from day one or you are new.
Each of YOU is what helps to make this blogging dream a reality, and I appreciate your friendship, readership, and support.
My Favorite Finds
This would make a perfect gift for Father’s Day.
I have and love this bamboo flatware set. And it’s currently on sale!
These rattan hoops are my new favorite earrings. They’re perfect for summertime and they go with just about anything.
Here’s another fun Father’s Day gift idea.
These solar tabletop lanterns are great for any outdoor living space.
More Favorites From Amazon
I am always adding new finds to my Amazon storefront, so be sure to stop by and check out my latest curated collections, including all my favorite decor finds and my summertime faves!
P.s. Did you know that I earn a small commission each time you click on a shoppable link in one of my posts and buy something? (Even if what you purchase is not the item I have linked.)
I am so thankful when you shop using my links. It helps keep my blogging dream alive and my little corner of the web up and going.
This Week On The Blog
As I mentioned above, this week I turned the big 4-0, so in honor of this milestone, I shared 40 fun (and very random) facts about me.
These facts fun the gamut from childhood memories to my favorite music and even some of my likes (and dislikes).
If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the person behind the blog, this is your chance.
And, since I’m still putting the finishing touches on this year’s Father’s Day gift guide, I thought I would share last year’s instead.
If the dad in your life loves to barbecue, then be sure to check out this round-up with some of the best gifts for dads who love to grill.
On The Menu The Week of June 5-9
We have a busy week coming up, so our kitchen will be a little quiet. But, if you need some easy dinner time inspo, here’s what’s on the menu this week.
- June 5 (Monday) – Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
- June 6 (Tuesday) – Belated Birthday Dinner with My Parents (Dine Out)
- June 7 (Wednesday) – Leftover Night
- June 8 (Thursday) – Grilled BBQ Chicken with Baked Potatoes and Sweet Corn

Coming Next Week To MWLS
Next week I will be joining some friends to share summer DIY and decor inspiration with you.
I also hope to share a new round-up with some of my favorite affordable red, white, and blue decor finds, AND put the finishing touches on this year’s Father’s Day gift guide.
I look forward to chatting with you more next week, so don’t forget to stop by for all of the summer fun.

Happy birthday on both you and your blog. It was great learning more about you.
Peanut has been our priority for the last month so I have had to give myself grace.
It’s so hard to do with blogging. It’s something I have had to deal with before. It’s life and makes me struggle.
We got good news so let the games begin

Thank you so much, Cindy. I hope sweet Peanut is feeling better. Pets really become family and it is hard when they are sick.
