Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style Volume 57
Happy Monday, friends!
You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been slacking on sharing my weekly rewind posts. But now that summer is here, I hope to get back on track with more regular (and timely) updates.
In today’s recap, I’m sharing the latest posts from my monthly supper club party, including a new tablescape, BBQ recipe, and a menu filled with recipes that are perfect for all your summertime celebrations.
And, as always, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite posts from a few of my friends.
So take a break, and catch up with the latest week in rewind!
Tidbits From Home
It’s been almost THREE weeks since my last update, and I have a lot to share with you. So let’s get to it!
A Week In Paradise
A few weeks ago, Kirk and I spent seven glorious days in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, celebrating my 40th birthday.
(Technically I don’t turn 40 until later this week, but who’s counting?!?)
This was the first time in our more than 15 years of marriage to enjoy a getaway, just the two of us. Or at least one that lasted beyond an extended weekend.
And it was so needed.
The weather was incredible, the people were amazing, and we enjoyed plenty of delicious food and drink.
I took more than 250 photos and videos during our trip. And no. That is not a typo.
It was hard to choose just a few photos to share here, but these are some of my favorites that best capture our week in paradise.
We returned rested, relaxed, and a little more red, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
Since getting home, we’ve both said our only regret is not taking the time to go on a trip like this sooner.
Kirk turns 40 next year, so I think it’s only fair that he gets a tropical birthday vacation too, don’t you?
Schools Out For Summer
This Thursday Kirk and the girls also celebrated the last day of school…at least for a few days.
Kirk will be teaching summer school once again this year, and Peyton will be taking an online class to continue to get ahead in her studies.
And the track season also came to a close. Peyton didn’t qualify for the state meet, but she did earn her second varsity letter at the team banquet last Sunday. Not a bad way to wrap up her freshman year.
Her first year of high school went by in the blink of an eye. She spent the weekend attending grad parties for her senior friends, and I can’t help but think that will be us in just three short years.
My Favorite Finds
This lawn game is one of our favorites to play in the summer.
These patriotic buntings would be beautiful to display on your fence, deck, or porch.
This crewneck sweatshirt would be so cute for the 4th and there are several designs to choose from!
This would be perfect for summertime entertaining.
I own and love this sundress that comes in several colors! (And I bought this belt to go with it.)
More Favorites From Amazon
There are some amazing Memorial Day sales happening on Amazon today with up to 50% off!
I am always adding new finds to my Amazon storefront, so be sure to stop by and check out my latest curated collections, including all my favorite decor finds and my patriotic summer essentials.

This Week On The Blog
After our trip, I had all things travel on the brain so I rounded up a few of my favorites to share with you!
Whether you are taking a vacation or traveling for work, this round-up with the top 20 budget-friendly travel essentials from Amazon has it all.
I also shared some of my favorite outfits, shoes, and accessories from our recent trip.
From sundresses and shorts to sandals and straw bags, I’m sharing my picks for the best summertime outfits and accessories from Amazon that will have you ready to soak up the sun and the fun in no time.
On Tuesday, I joined my friends from supper club for our latest party. This month we shared ideas to celebrate dad with a backyard BBQ for Father’s Day.
Here’s a quick little video tour of my tablescape that I shared over on my Instagram page. You can find all the sources for my table linked here.
My latest recipe for smoked country style pork ribs is dad-approved and finger-lickin’ good!
Serve it with any one of my favorite Midwest side dishes like cheesy hash brown casserole, coleslaw, creamy broccoli salad, baked beans, or cucumber pasta salad for a classic summertime meal.
Speaking of summer meals, if you’re looking for some recipes to make for Father’s Day this year, don’t miss this post with 20 of the best foods for a Father’s Day BBQ.
And to round out the week, I shared how I decorated our home for summer with my red, white, and blue summer home tour.
More than 25 friends joined the tour this week, so if you missed out you can see all the tours linked at the bottom of my original post.
