Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style Volume 55
Happy Sunday, friends!
You may have noticed that I took an impromptu blogging break. I missed sharing my regular weekend recap with you. But after our hectic spring schedule, my brain was feeling a bit scrambled, and my motivation to do much of anything blog-related was shall we say, nonexistent.
Now, after two weeks off, I’m back, and we have a lot to catch up on!
In today’s recap, I’m also sharing the latest posts from my monthly supper club party, including a new tablescape, appetizer recipe, and a menu filled with recipes that are perfect for a Mother’s Day celebration.
And, as always, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite posts from a few of my friends.
So grab a cup of something cozy, settle in, and catch up with the latest week in rewind!
Tidbits From Home
It’s been a while since we chatted last, so this week I have quite a bit to share.
On the sports front, we’ve been busy hopping back and forth between the track and the gym.
Last Tuesday, Peyton competed in the freshman all-city meet. For the first time this season, she did something other than field events. She ran the open 400-meter dash and the first leg of the 4 x 400-meter relay.
She also competed in both jumps, earning second place in the triple jump and first place in the long jump.
Then, she competed again on Wednesday at the varsity all-city meet. She just missed making finals in the long jump, but she hit a new PR in the triple jump to place fourth.
Last Sunday, we attended a reception to see some of Harper’s art. She had one of her drawings selected for the district-wide elementary art show. She was so proud, and it was fun to see all the different pieces that are on display.
AND…In between school, work, and activities, I’ve also been busy getting ready for my upcoming birthday trip!
Kirk and I will be traveling to the Dominican Republic one week from tomorrow. I can’t wait. Eek! I will definitely be sharing all about our trip once we get back.
My Favorite Finds
I purchased these for our trip to make packing easier.
I also purchased two of these…just in case our suitcases get lost.
If you’re looking for a “mom-friendly” swimsuit this summer I highly recommend this one.
I have and love this toiletry bag. It’s perfect for a weekend or a long getaway.
I own and love this sundress that comes in several colors! (And I bought this belt to go with it.)
More Favorites From Amazon
I am always adding new finds to my Amazon storefront, so be sure to stop by and check out my latest curated collections, including all my favorite decor finds and my beach vacation essentials.
P.s. Did you know that I earn a small commission each time you click on a shoppable link in one of my posts and buy something? (Even if what you purchase is not the item I have linked.)
I am so thankful when you shop using my links. It helps keep my blogging dream alive and my little corner of the web up and going.
This Week On The Blog
This week I shared three new posts as part of my monthly supper club series. These are always some of my favorite posts to share, and based on reader feedback, it seems that they are some of your favorites too!
Our theme was a Mother’s Day luncheon, and I had so much fun styling this pretty and feminine tablescape. I used some of my favorite new finds, including this hobnail planter filled with pink peony tulips and this blue and white striped tablecloth.
Here’s a quick little video tour of my tablescape that I shared over on my Instagram page.
You can find all the sources for my table linked here, and read my 5 easy tips for hosting a low-stress gathering for Mother’s Day this year.
My latest recipe is a crowd-pleasing appetizer that only takes a few minutes of prep. Quick simple and delish, this creamy spring herb dip checks all the boxes.
Serve it with fresh veggies, crackers, or naan bread, then dig in and enjoy!
And, if you missed yesterday’s post, you can catch up here to see our latest menu. From a refreshing grapefruit cocktail to a pretty cake with flowers, there’s a recipe for every course of your meal.
With seasonal ingredients and fresh flavors, it’s the perfect menu for Mother’s Day and many other springtime celebrations.
On The Menu The Week of May 1 – May 5
Here’s what’s cooking in our kitchen this week.
- May 1 (Monday) – Taco sloppy joes
- May 2 (Tuesday) – Honey garlic pork chops with steamed green beans
- May 3 (Wednesday) – Leftover night
- May 4 (Thursday) – Chicken bowtie salad
- May 5 (Friday) – French dip sliders
Coming Next Week To MWLS
Next week I hope to finally get my Mother’s Day gift guide done. If you’re ready to shop now, you can see my previous gift guides HERE and HERE.
And I may have a new recipe to share too. Just in time for summer BBQ season.
Stay tuned and watch your email inbox. I’ll let you know as soon as new posts are ready to go!
