Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style
Happy Saturday, friends! This week I got back into the blogging groove and shared two new posts with you. I’m slowly wrapping up with summer content and can’t wait to share all things fall. More on that soon!
In the meantime, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite ideas and inspiration from around the web this week, and all of the happenings from here at home. So grab a cup ‘o joe and join me for the latest week in rewind.
Tidbits From Home
It was another scorcher here this week! I’m not trying to wish away the last few weeks of summer, but I’m definitely ready for cooler temps and a lot less humidity. Ooph!
Rain has been scarce, so our DIY rain barrel has been helpful with watering flowers at night.
Despite the heat and humidity, some things in the garden are still thriving. While others, sadly are not so much. My hydrangeas have stopped blooming after producing three whole flowers. I’m so sad! If you have tips or tricks for how to get them to grow, send them my way!
My Favorite Finds
These classic candlesticks are a perfect decor staple and can be used year-round.
Love, love, love these! They are going on my fall home decor wishlist.
I just ordered this to help give the veggies in my garden an extra boost.
I own and love these no-slip hangers.
These loafers are super cute and come in several colors.
This Week On The Blog
Summer is the perfect time to dine al fresco, so this week I shared how to set up a casual breakfast picnic in the backyard.
All you need is a cozy blanket and oversized floor pillows. No table or chairs required!
I also joined the ladies from thrifting with the gals for their monthly blog series to share about vintage and thrifted finds.
I shared all my favorite places to score the best vintage decor, and easy tips for how to create a cottage style vignette in your home.
Coming Next Week To MWLS
Next week is shaping up to be a busy one with three new posts in the works!
If you love Christmas as much as I do, tune in on Monday to join me and 23 other bloggers for some Christmas in July inspiration. From DIYs and crafts to tips you can use now to get ready for the holiday hustle. There’s something for everyone.
Then on Thursday and Saturday, I’m teaming up with my friends from supper club to share our latest tablescapes and menu. We’re throwing an old-fashioned backyard BBQ, so you know it’s going to be fun. Be sure to mark your calendar and come and join us!

Coastal Summer Style
My friend Cindy from County Road 407 shared some great tips for ways to incorporate coastal style into your home.
Aren’t these blue glass bottles gorgeous?!?
I adore Cindy’s style and her sense of humor. I know you’ll love her too, so be sure to pop over to her blog and give her post a read.
Roasted Corn and Cucumber Salsa
Need a new recipe idea to try for Taco Tuesday? Check out this roasted corn and cucumber Salsa from my friend Sammi at Happi Homemade.
Sammi has the best collection of healthy made-from-scratch recipes, including several vegan and gluten-free options.
Casual Summer Tablescape
It was love at first sight when I saw this dreamy blue and white summer tablescape from my friend Shelley at Calypso in the Country.
I love the mix of galvanized tin combined with the wicker accents, and the sea shell napkin rings are the perfect finishing touch.
