Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style
Happy Saturday, friends! For a short work week, it sure felt long a long one. It’s always a bit more difficult to get back into the swing of things after a holiday, and I was a frequent rider on the struggle bus this week.
It felt like I couldn’t find the time or motivation to get much accomplished beyond the usual day-to-day stuff. Dinner. Dishes. Laundry. Repeat.
Did anyone else feel the same way? I was thankful for a short work day yesterday to relax and catch a quick nap.
All of that to say I didn’t get any new blog posts done this week. BUT, I am still sharing ideas and inspiration from several of my friends, along with some of my favorite throwback posts.
So grab a cold summer drink and join me for the latest week in rewind.
Tidbits From Home
We had a great holiday weekend visiting my hometown on the 4th of July. I love the parade, the fireworks, and soaking in all of the family time.
But I think one of my favorite things about going home is the peace and quiet that comes with small-town living.
I loved spending time in the gazebo each morning sipping my coffee and enjoying the gardens.
And sitting by the firepit was the perfect way to relax at the end of the day.
My Favorite Finds
I own and love these durable and affordable storage containers. They help keep snacks organized and are perfect for dry goods like pasta and cereal.
No more missing or mismatched lids! These containers are hands down my favorite ones to use to pack lunches and keep leftovers fresh.
I bought these to wear on the weekends and on my days off. Sooooo comfy!
This weekender bag is one of my favorites to use for a quick getaway.
Going on a vacation this summer? This hanging toiletry bag is ideal for organizing all of your hair and makeup essentials.
This Week On The Blog
Since I didn’t write any new posts this week, I’m sharing two of my favorites from the past.
We built this DIY rain barrel two summers ago, and it’s still one of my favorite outdoor projects. I love the extra curb appeal that it adds to the front of our house and that it helps to lower our water bill.
Ohh…and we’ve since been able to get rid of the big brown tube that was a huge eyesore! I hated the tubing from the day we moved it, so I was thrilled that this project allowed us to reroute the tube and bury it under the landscaping.
We had this cool cucumber pasta salad over the 4th of July weekend. This recipe has become one of my go-to’s when I need a quick summer side!
The sweet vinegar-based dressing paired with the pasta and veggies is a match made in heaven, and it’s the perfect dish to make if you have an abundance of fresh cucumbers in your garden.
