Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style
Happy Saturday, friends! The last few days I was busy getting ready to hit the road for the holiday weekend. Which translates to a not-so-busy week here on the blog.
But I still shared one new recipe that would make the perfect addition to your next BBQ or summer get-together.
So settle in and join me to catch up on the latest happenings from the week at MWLS.
Tidbits From Home
It’s become a tradition to return to my small hometown for their 4th of July celebration, and one that I look forward to every year. So we packed our bags and made the short trip three hours north to visit family for the holiday weekend.
This morning we did a 5k color run. We ran in it for the first time the last 4th of July weekend and had so much fun that we decided to do it again.
This year I walked more than I ran, and I definitely didn’t set any race records, but I finished.
I may just need the rest of the day to recover and ice my knees!
We’ll wrap up our stay on Monday with the parade, and the big fireworks display.
The parade has fewer floats than it used to and way more tractors and fire trucks. But the girls still enjoy it.
And I’m all about the ice cream social on the courthouse lawn that just so happens to be right near the parade route. You know how I feel about ice cream!
Then it’s back home on Tuesday for a full week of dance for Harper and high school sports prep for Peyton. And I thought our summer would be slower than the school year. Ha!
My Favorite Finds
I’m in love with this pretty and functional piece from the new Studio Mcgee line at Target!
This affordable door mat is in my shopping cart. It’s so cute for a porch or patio and perfect for any time of the year.
These are one of our most used grilling tools. They get a lot of use in the summertime.
I swear by this insulated water bottle. It keeps my water ice cold and costs way less than some of the popular well-known brands.

If you love fresh berries as much as I do, then the recipe for this cast iron triple berry crisp is one I know you’ll enjoy.
I may or may not have eaten half of the skillet by myself, so trust me when I say it’s that GOOD!
It tastes fantastic as is, but since I’m never one to turn down ice cream. A big ‘ole scoop of melty vanilla bean ice cream makes it even better.
What’s Coming Next To Midwest Life And Style
Next week I will be sharing a simple home hack with tips for how to update any light fixture on a budget.
I can’t wait to share with you!

Thank you, Cindy. The 5K was fun, although I definitely paid for it after. My body reminded me I’m not that young anymore.😂 And you are so welcome for the share. I hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend!

Thank you, AnnMarie. It’s been a fun weekend so far. A firepit, a fun run, lots of yummy food, and family time. And isn’t that trunk amazing? I’m thinking I want two for our family room to double as end tables. Happy 4th, my friend. I hope it’s a good one!
