Week In Rewind With Midwest Life And Style
Hello, friends, and happy Sunday! I think my brain is still catching up from the holiday, so I’m just a bit behind. And, as always, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes here at home. But, I did still share two new posts this week!
So grab your favorite beverage and join me for the latest edition of the week in rewind.
Tidbits From Home
My garden is in full bloom and the roses are really starting to show off!
These are just a few of the rose bushes the previous homeowners planted. We have so many that I can’t keep up with them all.
I need all the rose care help I can get, so if you have tips and tricks for growing roses, leave them in the comments.

This week I did more weeding and mulching. I also planted a few new perennials. This is a short video tour of my flower beds that I shared on TikTok.
The clip gives you just a little peek into our backyard so you can see some of the flowers that are in bloom.
There were also more lasts this week. Harper’s rec track season came to a close with her end-of-year meet. We enjoyed watching her compete in the long jump (just like her big sister), and she was thrilled to earn a second place ribbon.
And recently Peyton had a piece of artwork chosen for the district-wide art show. Next to playing sports, drawing is one of her biggest loves. It was so fun to see her piece framed and on display.
My Favorite Finds
I added this summer dress to my wardrobe this week. The fabric is so soft and comfy!
How adorable is this door mat?
I snagged two of these oversized throw pillows. I can’t wait to show you how I style them as part of my summer home tour in a few weeks.
This Week at MWLS
Summer is in full swing, and this week’s posts are all about enjoying the season. Here’s what you may have missed.
20+ Gift Ideas For Dads Who Love To Grill
Father’s day is sneaking up on me quickly! And since it has become a tradition here at MWLS to share a gift guide each year, it seems like the perfect time to round up a list of some of my favorite gift ideas for dad.Â
This year’s guide is about gifts for dads who love to grill. It’s packed with over 20 gift ideas, including a few things that Kirk owns (and loves), while the rest are perfect for the favorite dad in your life.
DIY Patriotic Door Basket
Now that school is out, I decided it was finally time to pull out my red, white, and blue decor.
I wanted a simple way to add some patriotic touches to our front porch, and this DIY patriotic door basket with red, white, and blue summer annuals was the perfect solution.
A hanging door basket is a great alternative to a wreath and only takes a few minutes to put together!
Just water your basket at least once a day and you’ll have beautiful blooms to enjoy all summer long.
What’s Coming Next To Midwest Life And Style
Next week will be extra hectic. It’s recital week, so there is a lot going on! (I know my fellow dance moms can relate.)
Despite the busyness, I hope to find time to share a new round-up with you that has some of the best patriotic decor. I can’t wait, so stop by again next week to join me.

DIY Patriotic Flags From Fabric Scraps
My friend Julie at My Wee Abode made these mini patriotic flags from scraps of leftover fabric. Aren’t they the cutest?
I love simple and inexpensive DIY projects, and these flags check all of the boxes. Be sure to stop by Julie’s blog to say hi and get the tutorial to make your own this summer.
4th of July Rice Krispie Treats
Lenny from Fat Dad Foodie shared his recipe for 4th of July Rice Krispie treats.
Don’t they look delicious? Rice Krispie treats are always a hit, and I love how Lenny cut these into stars. They’re so fun and the perfect patriotic dessert for the 4th.
Bunk Room Makeover
Renae at Peacock Ridge Farm transformed a spare room in their lake home into a functional bunk room for her grandchildren.
I am in love with the color palette and cozy cottage vibes. And you won’t believe the trick she used to install beadboard on the walls.
Stop by Renae’s blog to see more and get all of the design details.

You are so welcome! I have been wanting to make one of these for so long. I love how you made yours and am going to use it for inspiration when I’m ready to tackle this project.

Thanks, Jen! It was fun to see her combine her two passions. The art is on display until next February, then she is going to hang it in her room. Miss you too! When are we going to plan our girls’ weekend?😉
