Tidbits From Home
School is back in session, so we’ve been adjusting and finding our groove again with the hectic school year routine.
Harper is in 4th grade and her second to last year of elementary school. Peyton is a sophomore and enjoying no longer being amongst the youngest students roaming the hallways.
On August 15th, we celebrated Kirk’s birthday with a cookie cake from one of our favorite local cookie bakeries. For his birthday he requested a new grill, so we’ll be picking up a Blackstone flat top over Labor Day weekend. To say he is excited about his present would be an understatement!
High school volleyball season is also in full swing. Peyton’s team started the year with a win against a cross-town rival and earned second place in a tournament this weekend.
To wrap up the week, Kirk and I enjoyed a date night out. We ate at an Indian restaurant (a first for me), and, of course, we ended the night with a scoop of ice cream from the Dairy Store.
My Favorite Finds
I just bought this for our front porch.
We have and love these amazingly comfy bed pillows.
This plaid shacket is currently in my shopping cart.
These portable rockers are perfect for the fall sports season, tailgating, or camping.
I love this crewneck pullover, and it comes in several colors!
I just snagged this plaid throw too!

This Week On The Blog
Last Thursday I shared my first DIY of the fall season!
If you love easy and affordable DIYs don’t miss my tutorial to make a rustic book page laeft garland for autumn.
This week I joined my friends from Supper Club for our latest party. This month we shared tips for hosting the ultimate Southern potluck.
And while I’ve only ever attended potlucks here in the Midwest, my southern friends have assured me they’re all the same. A potluck is all about good company and (a lot) of good food!
If you love to entertain, be sure to read my simple guide with 6 ideas to help make your potluck party a success.
For this month’s party, I was in charge of the drink. Given our current heat wave here in the Midwest, this refreshing watermelon crush cocktail seemed only fitting.
Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ, football tailgate party, or simply enjoying an evening on the porch, this watermelon crush is the perfect drink to sip on as we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall.
And lastly, yesterday we shared our potluck menu with 6 new recipes inspired by classic southern comfort foods.
Each of these crowd-pleasing recipes is sure to be a hit at your next family gathering or neighborhood block party.
