Week in Rewind Volume 103
Happy Tuesday friends!
I’m extra late getting this recap out, but as the saying goes…better late than never, right?
We spent the weekend at another volleyball tournament in Minneapolis, which is part of the reason I’m running behind.
It’s been a few weeks, and there’s lots to catch up on—more travels, Super Bowl party ideas, appetizer recipes, and plenty of other goodness on the blog.
So grab a drink, get cozy, and let’s rewind the week together!
Table of Contents
Tidbits from Home
A lot has happened since we last caught up!
To start, we had a big birthday in our house!
Two weeks ago, we celebrated Harper’s 11th birthday with dinner at her favorite pizza spot, then headed home for a small family celebration complete with a Wicked-themed cake and plenty of Wicked-inspired presents.
Ever since we saw the movie over the holiday break, she’s been obsessed, so it was the perfect way to celebrate our sweet, dance-and-music-loving girl!
The next day, we packed up and traveled to Colorado for Peyton’s first volleyball tournament of the season.
Her team had a great start, finishing the weekend with a 6-2 record.
And since were lucky to have so much of Kirk’s family in Colorado, she had a big cheering section, including two sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!
A Visit to Snowy South Carolina
After getting home from Colorado late Monday night, I barely had time to unpack before catching a 6 a.m. flight to Charleston the next morning.
Talk about a quick turnaround!
I spent the week with my blogging friends Anne and AnnMarie from Simply 2 Moms, planning and brainstorming for the year ahead.
Beyond work, we had fun plans like enjoying a historic carriage ride through the city, but Mother Nature had other ideas.
A rare snowstorm hit the South, shutting down most of Charleston—including nearly all the restaurants, shops, and tourist spots.
Even with the unexpected winter weather, we made the best of it.
With restaurants closed, all of our reservations were canceled, but thankfully, we had stocked up on snacks and had plenty of leftovers from our charcuterie board dinner on the first night.
Anne even made us homemade grilled pimento cheese sandwiches with her famous recipe.
I’d never tried pimento cheese before this trip, but to say I’m a fan would be an understatement!
I don’t know why pimento cheese isn’t a thing here in the Midwest, but it needs to be.
We snuck in a (very cold!) trip to the beach, and by the last day, we finally found a few restaurants that had reopened.
Charleston is such a beautiful city, and I’d love to go back when it’s warmer and I have more time to explore.
More Tales from the Road
And after just a few days at home, it was time to hit the road again!
This past weekend, we were in Minneapolis for another volleyball tournament with Peyton and her team.
It was a tough one, but the girls played hard and pushed through, even with several players injured.
We got home early Sunday evening, and I’m looking forward to a week at home before we’re back on the road for another tournament over Valentine’s Day weekend.
A little time to catch up and catch our breath sounds pretty nice right about now!
