Week in Rewind Volume 101
Happy Sunday and a very belated Merry Christmas!
The holidays always seem to fly by, but goodness…this year felt like it went by even faster than usual.
Did it feel that way for you too?
With all the fun and festivities, I realized it’s been a month since I’ve shared a weekly recap.
So now that we’re home from our holiday travels and things have finally settled down, I’m excited to jump back in and catch up with you!
So, grab your favorite cozy drink, and let’s chat about what’s been happening here at home and on the blog.
Table of Contents
My Big News!
First, one of the most exciting things to happen this month was being featured in the December/January issue of American Farmhouse Style magazine!
If you missed my Instagram post, my red and white gingerbread tablescape was featured as the winner from this past spring’s tablescape contest.
When I started this blogging journey never did I ever imagine that I would have my photography printed in magazines.
So, even though this is my third magazine feature, it still feels like a pinch-me moment every single time.
Tidbits from Home
Beyond my exicting business news, our Decemeber was filled with holiday concerts, parties, and a lot of family time.
Before winter break, Harper had her choir and music concert for school.
She loves the arts, and thrives on peforming.
This year she switched from orchestra to band and is learning how to play the alto saxophone…an instrument I played myself for eight years!
We enjoyed several holiday parties this year, including one hosted by the university where I worked before transitioning to blogging full-time—which also happens to be where Kirk earned his master’s degree.
It was so much fun catching up with old coworkers and seeing friends and other people I got to know during the seven years I worked there.
Peyton also got in on the holiday party action by attending a winter ball formal with a few of her friends.
I’m so grateful she got to have this experience, especially since she’ll miss her first prom this year due to a club volleyball tournament.
As a volleyball family, we are big Husker volleyball fans, so just before Christmas, Kirk surprised Peyton and me with tickets to cheer on our team at the Sweet 16!
We got to watch some incredible high-level volleyball and a Husker win, making it the perfect mother-daughter date night.
Christmas Celebrations
Right before the holiday, we hosted Kirk’s mom and stepdad for a few days.
We celebrated his mom’s birthday, had an early Christmas, and took advantage of the mild weather to visit the local children’s zoo for their Zoo Lights event.
For Christmas, we enjoyed a few quiet days at home, including a cozy pizza, pj, and movie night on Christmas Eve.
And, to wrap up the holidays, we spent a few days in my hometown visiting my family for a belated Christmas celebration.
Our visit was filled with games, puzzles, movies, plenty of cousin time for the girls, and (maybe just a little too much) amazing food.
My heart feels full, but after all the travel and festivities of the past few weeks, I’m more than ready for a few quiet days at home to rest and recharge before the new year.
