Ready in just a few minutes, this gooey smores snack mix is the ultimate chocolate treat!
The Ultimate Smores Snack Mix
Smores are the quintessential summer and fall treat. What’s not to love about all of the melty, chocolatey goodness, and soft, gooey marshmallows sandwiched between two crunchy grahams?
My sweet tooth is kicking into overdrive just thinking about it!
Smores snack mix tastes just like the real deal…but without all of the sticky mess. It’s perfect for an after-school snack, a neighborhood BBQ, or it’s a great treat to take on the go!
Ingredients for the Ultimate Smores Snack Mix
- 5 cups Golden Grahams cereal, divided
- 4 cups Chex toasted rice cereal
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups mini marshmallows, divided
Instructions for the Ultimate Smores Snack Mix
First, in a large mixing bowl combine 4 cups of the Golden Grahams and all of the rice Chex cereal. Gently stir and set the cereal aside.
Then, in a medium microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Stir the mixture and place the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Carefully remove from the microwave, stir, and heat for another 30 seconds. Repeat until the chocolate and peanut butter mixture is fully melted.
Next, add half of the mini marshmallows to the melted chocolate mix and stir. Pour the chocolate over the cereal and mix well until the cereal is coated.
Add the powdered sugar into a gallon size freezer bag. Then pour the cereal mix into the freezer bag. Seal the bag and shake the mixture until it is coated in powdered sugar. Add in the remaining Golden Grahams and mini marshmallows and shake again to combine the snack mix.
Spread the smores snack mix onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes and then dig in!
Add Ins
Change it up! Try different variations of the snack mix with these add-ins.
- Mini peanut butter cups. More chocolate and peanut butter? Yes, please!
- M&M’s (peanut or plain). Have some fun and mix in seasonal colors for the different holidays.
- Candy corn. I know this one might be controversial, but hear me out. If you’ve never had candy corn in a snack mix like this, you need to try it.
- Mini pretzles or pretzle sticks. Add in a little bit of salty to balance out all of the sweet.
How To Store Extra Snack Mix
Extra snack mix is not likely to be an issue. But in the event that it doesn’t get devoured immediately, store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
