It may be tiny, but I still enjoy styling our porch each season, so today I’m sharing my simple summer porch refresh.

A beautifully styled front porch can make your home feel welcoming, but it doesn’t have to cost a lot to create. This summer, I challenged myself to refresh our porch by shopping our home first. With that in mind, I was able to pull this whole look together using decor I already had on hand. Outside of a few new plants, I spent no money. Woot!
I forgot to snap before photos (rookie mistake), but trust me when I say that this look is a HUGE improvement from the dead greens and bare pots that were on the porch well past their prime. Yikes!
To begin the refresh, I hung this simple olive wreath on the door. I love the neutral look, and it provides just the right pop of color. Next, I added some faux ferns to the metal wall planters. The planters are a Smith & Hawken brand clearance find from last year, but I found some similar ones [HERE].
After a few years of wear and tear, the front door hardware was also looking a bit shabby. Would you guess it used to be a lovely shade of 90’s gold? We have discussed replacing it, but new hardware is not cheap. Spray paint to the rescue! After carefully removing the hardware, I used a can of matte black paint that we had on hand to do some touch-ups. Now the hardware looks brand new, and the best part is, it cost nothing!
Next, I reused these two doormats to create a layered look for the entry. The seagrass area rug has taken a bit of a beating, but it still has a lot of life left, and it met the no-spend theme. I added this cute “hi” mat on top for a fun, finishing touch.
Last, to finish the porch, I purchased a few new plants and flowers from a local greenhouse. To give the space a bit of the vintage feel I love, I used [THESE] metal pails and [THESE] crocks, which I purchased last fall, to plant in.
I used a mix of annuals like these purple petunias and some coleus to fill the crocks, and a few hostas to fill the pails. I hope to keep the hostas through the summer and transplant them in our backyard in the fall.
We have plans to do more updates this summer, including some new landscaping, lights, and a DIY rain barrel (bye bye ugly, brown drainage pipe!) I look forward to sharing the process with you here on the blog soon.
