Welcome to The Blogger’s Best Fall Home Tour
Welcome to the Bloggers Best Fall Home Tour! This week I am thrilled to join a group of 30 talented and creative blogging friends to share our homes decorated for the fall.
To my new readers, and those of you who are joining me from Kelly at The Tattered Pew, thanks so much for stopping by! I’m glad you’re here and look forward to sharing my home tour with you.
But first, a little about me. My name is Jen. I’m a wife, momma of two sweet girls, and a lifelong Nebraskan. I love to share about our life here in the Midwest and all the things that make a house a home.
You can read more about me here, and I’d love to learn more about you too! Be sure to say “hi” in the comments below and tell me where you’re visiting from.
Okay, enough with the introductions. It’s time to start the tour. So grab your favorite cozy beverage and join me as I share how I used simple rustic cottage decor to decorate our home for the fall.
Simple And Rustic Cottage Early Fall Home Tour
Fall is slowly making her presence known here in the Midwest, and I couldn’t be more excited. It is, after all, one of my favorite seasons!
It’s the time of year when the heat of the summer slowly starts to fade, and the leaves begin to show signs of the changes to come.
And it’s this transition from the neutral green shades of summer to the warm amber and brown tones of autumn that inspired me to create an early fall look throughout our home this year.
Fall On Our Porch
I’ll be sharing more of our porch later this week, but I wanted to give you a peek of how it looks at dusk.
Last year’s fall porch was filled with cornstalks and a variety of pumpkins.
This year, I opted for a more simple look, using mums and greenery in earthones to decorate for fall.
One of my favorite things about this year’s porch is my new DIY door basket. It’s a super simple fall craft and an easy way to dress up your front door for the season.
Fall In Our Entry
Just through the front door is our entry and formal dining room. And if I’m being honest, other than our porch, it is the only room in our house that is currently decorated for fall. Friends, when I say I’m moving slowly over here, I mean it.
I. Am. Moving. Slowly.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. But between work and a BIG home project we’re secretly working on (more details to come on that next week), I’ve been burning the candle at both ends.
Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy my mini fall home tour and feel inspired to recreate some of these looks in your home.
Here in the entryway, you can see my fall color palette come alive with a mix of terra cotta, olive green, black, cream, and gold.
I love the subtle changes as the leaves start to turn during the first weeks of autumn. To mimic those same changes indoors, I hung a woven basket from our entry shelf and filled it with a mix of grapevine branches and some orange and brown fall foliage.
Our entry is also home to my favorite vintage dresser. She was in bad shape when I found her, but after I stripped off all of the old paint and added some vintage brass hardware, she looks brand new.
To create a modern cottage feel I styled my dresser with a mix of both vintage pieces and new decor.
Then I added some more mixed greenery and few creamy white pumpkins.
Fall In Our Dining Room
Like our entry, I keep things simple in our dining room this year. As the saying goes, less is more, right?
My fall decor looks different than it did a few years ago. Now, instead of pillows that say “hello fall” or totes full of faux pumpkins, I like to use staple pieces like brass candlestick holders, baskets, and neutral throw pillows that can be used all year long.
These items help to bring in texture and earth tones to create a cozy autumn feel without being “fall” specific.
For our table, I made a simple centerpiece with some artichokes and magnolia leaves.
Then I added a few brass candlesticks holders and set the table with my favorite cream stoneware.
To finish decorating in the dining room, I added a natural-colored wreath to my barn door. Then, I mixed in some fall foliage with some everyday decor items.
To make the display on the buffet, I filled a dough bowl with some rust-colored magnolia leaves. Then I added a fall sign from one of my favorite small shop owners, and fellow Midwesterners, Brittany at Currently Chic Boutique.
