2022 Candlelight Christmas Home Tour
The shopping is done, the gifts are wrapped, and I finally crossed off the last of the to-dos on my holiday checklist. This week we even got our first dusting of snow.
It’s truly starting to feel like Christmas!
With less than a week to go until the big day, I’m trying hard to soak up every last bit of the magic of the season. And today, I’m sharing some of it with you with a magical Christmas candlelight home tour.
Thanks to my good friends Anne and AnnMarie at Simply 2 Moms for hosting this tour. I’m joined by ten blogging friends from across the country who are sharing their cozy candlelight tours with you too.
You can find each tour linked at the bottom of my post. I hope you take some time to stop by and visit them all.
If you are stopping by from my friend Pasha at Pasha Is Home, thank you for visiting!
I’m Jen. I’m a wife, mom, and born and raised Midwestern gal who loves to share about all the things that make a house a home. From seasonal decor to budget-friendly DIYs, easy recipes, and more. You’ll find it all here at MWLS.
And if you like what you see, don’t forget to subscribe and become a part of the Midwest Life and Style family.
Now grab your favorite cozy holiday drink, and join me for my magical Christmas candlelight home tour
Cozy And Inviting Christmas Entry
Welcome to our home, where we’ll start the tour in the entry.
In our home, the entry is combined with our formal dining room. It’s also where you’ll see one of my favorite thrift store finds, this refurbished antique dresser.
I love the beautiful curves and details carved into the wood, and it doubles as extra storage for linens and seasonal dishes.
I styled the dresser with more vintage finds, including this old typewriter I bought at a barn sale several summers ago.
To add a touch of holiday decor, I dressed up the typewriter with some winter greenery and a sign with the lyrics from “Silent Night.”
In front of the typewriter, I scattered some old Christmas postcards. Then I draped a small tree with twinkle lights and placed it in a rusty, old plaid lunchbox.
Because you can never have too many trees…or twinkle lights!
Just off the entry is the stairs to the second floor of our home. This year I dressed up the banister with some of my favorite life-like cedar garland, large gold bells, and a red and white ticking stripe bow.
Oh, and of course, more lights!
With no separate mudroom or dropzone, this area near the front door is a catch-all for all the backpacks, coats, and winter gear. And it’s also where I hang these skates each winter on my old reclaimed wood shelf.
It wouldn’t be a holiday home tour if I didn’t share them. They are one of my favorite vintage winter decor finds.
You can also see a photo of my skates in the winter ’22 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine! (Read more on that exciting news and my first magazine feature HERE.)
Christmas In The Dining Room
Next on my candlelight Christmas home tour is our cozy and magical gingerbread dining room.
I had been dreaming of how to style this whimsical gingerbread tablescape since last Christmas and was so excited to see it come to life.
With the garland, gold bells, brass candle sticks, and red and white ticking stripe accents, I think it may just be my favorite tablescape to date.
The inspiration for this table started with a photo of a snow globe I saw on Pinterest, and I knew I had to make my own.
I used some brown craft paint to transform a few thrifted Christmas village houses into a DIY gingerbread snow globe centerpiece.
In the corner of the dining room is one of the three Christmas trees in our home.
The glow of the lights is so magical and greets me from the front window each day as I pull into our driveway after work.
Other than lights and some battery-operated candles, I left this tree undecorated this year. I’d love to say it was planned, but honestly, I just ran out of time and energy to get it done.
But the simplicity has grown on me, and I really love how it looks without all of the balls and baubles. I may just leave the tree undecorated from now on.
Next to the tree is our buffet that I styled with some mercury glass trees and this beautiful script sign from Between You and Me Signs.
I also tucked some simple greenery, twinkle, lights, and red ornaments into a dough bowl to add a few more holiday touches.
I’m going to miss this cozy view and the glow of all the lights once Christmas is over.
Cozy Christmas Living Room
The final stop on my candlelight Christmas home tour is our living room.
The living room is home to tree number two. Each year, on the day after Thanksgiving, we visit a local farm to pick out our family tree.
It’s tradition to give our tree a name, and this year’s tree is named Fiona. She’s extra special and holds all our most cherished family ornaments filled with memories of Christmases past.
I love to snuggle up here each night and just gaze at the glowing lights. It’s the perfect way to relax and unwind.
In the center of the living room is a chest that doubles as storage for extra blankets. For Christmas, I added a large basket on top of it and filled the basket with some more of my favorite life-like greenery.
Then I added a cloche with some candles and another DIY gingerbread house to carry the theme from my tablescape into the living room.
I kept our Christmas mantel simple with some more greenery, knit stockings, and twinkle lights.
I also added a few springs of frosted red berries into the garland for a pop of color.
Then, to finish the mantel, I added a few vintage brass candlesticks and this sign with lyrics from my favorite Christmas hymn, “Mary Did you Know?”
The song reminds me of Christmas at my grandparents’ and the midnight candlelight service at church. I think of them and smile every time I see this sign.
To wrap up my cozy and magical candlelight Christmas home tour I’m leaving you with a few more views of our living room and a reminder of the reason for the season.

Where did you buy your framed hymn?

Which framed hymn are you referring to? The Silent Night one is old…I think I got it online from Zulilly maybe. The “Mary Did You Know?” framed art is from a small shop maker ~ Currently Chic Boutique. I have several of her signs and love them all. You can find her shop online.
Hope this helps!
