How To Make Festive Chair Wreaths For Christmas
I’ve always loved seeing Christmas chair wreaths in magazines and other people’s homes. They’re such a festive and inviting way to decorate your dining room or kitchen for the holidays.
So, this year, I finally decided to make my own rustic Christmas chair wreaths using natural materials like dried oranges, pinecones, and cinnamon sticks.
I’m showing you how to make your own chair wreaths in just four easy steps. They’re so simple to make, even a crafting novice can whip them up in no time.
These festive Christmas chair wreaths are the perfect way to dress up your dining chairs for holiday parties and family gatherings.
And the best part is, they’re made with simple materials that you can easily find at your local craft store.
So gather your supplies and get ready to get your holiday crafting on!
Tools And Supplies Needed To Make Christmas Chair Wreaths
- Small wreaths
- Dried oranges
- Cinnamon sticks
- Pine cone clusters
- Scissors
- Birch twigs
- Wire cutters
- Velvet ribbon
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
How To Make Festive Chair Wreaths For Christmas
Step 1: Add Dried Oranges To Your Wreaths
Before you begin, make sure you have all of the necessary materials on hand.
You will need small wreaths, dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, pine cone clusters, velvet ribbon, and a hot glue gun.
I used store-bought dried oranges to make my Christmas chair wreaths, just like with my rustic Christmas centerpiece. But you can easily make your own in the oven or a food dehydrator.
(You can see my tutorial for making dried oranges for the holidays here.)
To start, grab your glue gun and begin attaching some dried oranges to your wreaths. I chose to arrange mine in a cluster of three, but feel free to experiment with different patterns and quantities.
Let your creativity guide you and create a design that you love.
Step 2: Add Some Dried Cinnamon Sticks
Next, glue a cinnamon stick onto each of the Christmas chair wreaths. Again, feel free to experiment and do what you love!
You can arrange them in a symmetrical pattern or a more random arrangement and add as many or as few as you like.
Step 3: Add Some Pinecones
After you’ve glued on some dried oranges and cinnamon sticks, you’re ready to add pinecones to your Christmas chair wreaths.
For the pinecones, I grabbed a few picks I found at the craft store. Each pick had three pinecones, so I used wire cutters to carefully remove one pinecone from each pick.
Then, I gently lifted the greenery on the wreath and placed a small dab of hot glue to securely attach the pinecones and keep them in place.
I added a cluster of two pinecones opposite my oranges and cinnamon sticks to help the wreaths feel balanced.
Then I added the third pinecone, and I tucked a few birch twigs into the gaps throughout the greenery for some added rustic holiday charm.
Step 4: Attach Some Ribbon And Hang Your Christmas Chair Wreaths
Once you’ve finished decorating your chair wreaths, it’s time to add a touch of Christmas elegance with some velvet ribbon.
You can use any color you like, but I chose a nice honey-brown color that goes well with the color of the dried oranges.
To hang your holiday wreaths on kitchen or dining room chairs, simply tie the velvet ribbon into a cute bow or cut a small section to make a loop as I did.
Next, thread the ribbon through the center of each of your Christmas wreaths and around the back of your chair. Pull the loop snugly so the ends overlap, and then secure it with a small dot of hot glue.
Once the glue has cooled, gently adjust the ribbon loop around the wreath to conceal the glued ends.
