It’s Time For Tea
In the springtime, there is never a shortage of reasons to celebrate. The front of my fridge should be all of the proof you need. At the moment, it’s plastered with invites for a baby shower, two weddings, and more graduation parties than I can count.
Add in the fact that Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and it seems like the perfect time to team up with my friends from supper club to share some new styled tables with you.

This month we were inspired by a traditional high tea. I had so much fun dreaming up this tablescape and finding ways to add subtle bits of English charm.
We have been hosting these parties for over a year now and have styled tables for just about any occasion you can think of. If you’ve missed any of our previous posts, you can check out all of the inspiration here.
Now pull up a chair to join us for tea. And don’t forget to check out our tea party menu filled with spring-inspired recipes. From drinks to dessert, we have all of the food for your next party planned with the help of this delicious menu.
Welcome To Our Guest Host
Once again, we’re thrilled to have a guest host join us. This time, we’re excited to welcome Brendt from She Gave It A Go.
I have followed Brendt for years on her social channels and have enjoyed connecting over decor, DIYs, and our daughters’ shared love of volleyball. Fast forward to last summer, and I was finally able to meet Brendt in person and give her a big ‘ole hug.
Brendt is as sweet as they come and has a passion for all things faith, family, and home. If you haven’t met her yet, swing by her blog to say “hi” and see how she styled a vintage buffet for this month’s tea party.

And, to all of my new friends who are here for the first time, welcome! I’m Jen. I’m a wife and girl mom who plans events by day, and blogs by night.

Elegant Spring High Tea Party
Spring has finally arrived here in the Midwest, so I took inspiration from the outdoors and brought it in for my tea party tablescape.

Since my daffodils and tulips are just beginning to bloom, I chose a bright green and yellow color palette to style my table.
Paired with lemons and my new-to-me basket, it’s part picnic, part garden party, and part tea party!
Perfect for Mother’s Day or any special occasion, today I’m sharing how to style an elegant tea party of your own this spring in just three easy steps.
How To Set The Table for Tea

To set the table for tea, I started with a delicate lace table runner. I love the feminine floral design, and the lace gives the setting a vintage look and feel.
A vintage quilt would make a great tablecloth for a tea party. We have a few at home, but none of them looked quite right. I’m on the hunt now, and hope to find the perfect one on my next thrifting trip.

After the runner, I used some wicker chargers and layered on my favorite stoneware dishes and gold silverware.

On top of the plates, I added some of these pretty spring napkins I found at Joanne’s. Would you believe that they are paper?

The yellow and gold accents match the rest of my table to a tee. And how cute is the bee? I couldn’t resist.

At each place setting I added a mini dessert cup and two drinking glasses. And it wouldn’t be a tea party without tea cups!

The teapot was a recent thrift store find, but you’d never know just from looking at it. It’s almost a perfect match for my dishes.
The small plates were also a thrift store find and are great for dessert or can be used as a saucer for teacups.
Create A Simple Centerpiece For Tea Time

Aside from my garden and our gorgeous spring weather, this old picnic basket was one of the main inspirations for my table.

I found it while I was out thrifting a few months ago. Although I wasn’t sure how I would use it at the time, for $6, I couldn’t pass it up.

And I’m so glad I grabbed it! It makes the perfect centerpiece for my table and adds an extra bit of vintage charm.

To add more color and pattern to the table, I tucked a green and white plaid blanket into the basket.

Then I created a simple spring bouquet using faux tulips mixed with some flowers that I picked up from the grocery store.

To finish the centerpiece I stacked some bowls and added a few lemons along with a pair of vintage brass candlesticks.

I love how this centerpiece can easily transition from spring to early summer. And it can be used for an outdoor party as well.

What To Serve At Your Tea Party
Did you know there is a difference between high tea and low tea? If you said no, you’re not alone. Until recently, neither did I.
Overseas in England, high tea is considered an evening meal and often includes hearty dishes with meats and vegetables. On the other hand, afternoon tea or low tea has more bite-size foods and often includes finger sandwiches, pastries, and desserts.

To make it easier for your guests (and you), serve a mix of sweet and savory treats that can easily pass as finger foods or can be served in individual cups like these charcuterie cups with dip or mini jars with salad.

For dessert serve some easy semi-homemade brownie bites or this simple no-bake lemon cheesecake. And of course, don’t forget the tea!
