2022 Bloggers’ Best Holiday Home Tour
Christmas is in the air, and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the annual Bloggers’ Best Holiday Home Tour hosted by my friend Kelly at The Tattered Pew.
Today I’m joined by six friends from across the country. Each of us is opening our homes to you and sharing how we’ve decked the halls for the holidays.
Throughout the week, more bloggers will be joining the festivities. With 35 homes to tour, there’s no shortage of Christmas inspiration! No matter what style you love or how you like to decorate for the holidays, there’s a tour for everyone.
You can find each tour linked at the bottom of my post. I hope you’ll take the time to stop by each day and visit them all.
If you are stopping by from Rachel at The Ponds Farmhouse, thank you for visiting!
I’m Jen. I’m a wife, mom, and born and raised Midwestern gal who loves to share about all the things that make a house a home. From seasonal decor to budget-friendly DIYs, easy recipes, and more. You’ll find it all here at MWLS.
And if you like what you see, don’t forget to subscribe and become a part of the Midwest Life and Style family.
Now grab your favorite cozy holiday drink, and join me for my charming old world red and white holiday house tour.
Charming Old World Red And White Holiday House Tour
The Entry
Welcome to our home, and the first stop on my holiday home tour, the entry.
In our home, the entry is combined with our formal dining room. With no separate mudroom or dropzone, this space is the catch-all for all the backpacks, coats, and winter gear.
And while I’d like to say it always looks this tidy, the truth is there’s usually a pile of bags, sports balls, dirty socks, and a collection of other random things heaped in a pile on the stairs. (I’m sure all my fellow moms can relate!)
When the entry is clutter free, I love to style it for each of the different seasons, and Christmas and winter is my favorite!
I like to use lots of greenery and garlands throughout our home. And chunky knits like this cream blanket and red throw pillow are a staple in my holiday decor. Paired with a classic plaid blanket, they add warmth to the space that creates a welcoming feeling for guests. And it makes our home feel extra cozy!
A Red, White, And Vintage Christmas
Last year’s holiday home tour included a lot of blue and gold with plaid accents. And although I went with a classic red and white theme for Christmas this holiday season, I still used many of the same vintage pieces in my decor from years past.
I love the nostalgic feeling I get from antique holiday finds, and I enjoy using a mix of both old and new decor throughout our home.
If these skates look familiar, it is because I use them every year…AND one of my photos of them just made an appearance in the winter ’22 issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine! Eek! (You can read more on that exciting news HERE.)
The skates are one of my absolute favorite all-time finds. I love to hang them from the hooks on my old reclaimed wood shelf.
Neutral decor like these skates can also easily transition from holiday to winter decor, so I can enjoy them even after Christmas has passed.
These Christmas postcards are another vintage find that I like to use in my decor each year. I tucked a few in a mailbox with some bits of greenery.
And I scattered a few more on the dresser near our front door. Some of the postcards are more than 100 years old!
To finish our entry, I styled the top of the dresser with more antique pieces, including an old typewriter and a rusty plaid lunch box I found while shopping at a holiday market with my mom a few years ago.
A Classic Christmas Staircase
Just off the entry is the stairway to the second floor of our home.
Since the stairs are such a prominent feature, I like to dress them up with some garland and lights.
This year I also added some red and white ticking stripe ribbon and some gold bells to add to the vintage holiday feeling.

The Dining Room
Next on the tour is one of my favorite rooms in our home, the dining room.
Tablescapes are one of the things that I love to share the most here on the blog. And, as you might have guessed, Christmas tablescapes are among my favorites to create.
This year I styled a whimiscal red and white Christmas tablescape complete with gingerbread houses.
The inspiration for this table came from a photo of a gingerbread snow globe from Better Homes and Gardens that I spotted while scrolling Pinterest.
I loved it so much, I created my own DIY gingerbread snow globe centerpiece with old Christmas village houses that I found at a local thirft store.
Red ticking stripe accents like these hand-tied napkins and aged woven chargers tie the table together.
And small details like the gold bells, twinkle lights, and vintage brass candle sticks add the perfect finishing touches.
I love these little house so much. I plan to find more to add to my collection for next year!

The Master Bedroom
The last stop on my old world red and white holiday house tour is our charming master bedroom.
As you might guess, this is one of my favorite spots to snuggle up and watch holiday movies. So to make it extra cozy for the season, I draped a red duvet over the foot of the bed and added a few extra blankets and holiday throw pillows.
And while I love our comfy and cozy bed, the thing I enjoy most about our bedroom at Christmastime is our tree!
It took some convincing, but after years of begging, I finally talked my husband into putting up a tree in our room.
I used a mix of red and white balls with some ticking stripe ornaments to decorate it. And I tucked in a few frosted red berry picks and some vintage-looking Santa figurines for a bit more color. (You can read more of my tree decorating tips HERE.)
There isn’t anything better than the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree, is there? It makes me so happy to snuggle up next to its warm glow at night.
And can you blame me? I don’t think I will ever get tired of this view.
