How To Make Autumn Apple and Pecan Salad
In a colander, wash and prep your mixed greens. Gently pat the salad mix dry and add it to a large serving bowl.
Next, slice two apples into thin wedges and add them to your salad. Gala and Fujii apples are my two favorites, but you can use any variety that you like.
Tip: To prevent your sliced apples from browning, soak them in a mix of 1/2 teaspoon salt to 1 cup of water for 5 minutes. Then rinse in a colander under cold water. Store any extra apple slices in the fridge in a plastic food storage bag.
Then add the dried cranberries, pecans, and feta cheese. Toss everything to combine and then serve the salad with the honey mustard dressing on the side.
And that’s it. Fast, simple, and delicious!
What Else Can You Add To Your Salad
This autumn apple and pecan salad recipe is amazing as is, but it can easily be modified too. If you don’t have apples try swapping them out for some sliced pears.
Or, if you’re not a fan of pecans use chopped walnuts or slivered almonds instead. It’s up to you!
Here are a few other ways you can change up your salad:
- Add some protein. Turn this apple and pecan salad into a main dish with a few strips of grilled chicken breast, some sauteed shrimp, or cooked bacon crumbles. (Because, bacon makes everything better, am I right?)
- Load up on veggies. Add more vegetables to the mix like slices of sweet red onion, or diced cucumber.
- Experiment with apples. I mentioned that Gala and Fuji are my favorites, but whatever you have on hand at home will work. Braeburn, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady are great too.
