During the spring and summer months, our family loves to relax on the patio! Whether we are grilling, toasting s’ mores, or just unwinding, our little patio has become a backyard retreat. It’s not fancy, but it’s cozy and our slice of outdoor heaven. To help you make the best use of your space, here are five simple tips for styling the perfect summer patio.
1. Seating
Your patio is an extension of your home, and your style. Before shopping for any outdoor furniture, think about how you want the space to look and feel. Seating like this cozy couch and chair set is a great way to create a patio that is both comfortable and inviting. It’s also important to consider the size of your patio. Before making your final purchase, measure the space to make sure there is plenty of room to walk comfortably between each of the various pieces.
*Pro Tip: Create a cohesive style by selecting furniture that adds to the overall look and feel of your home.
2. Lighting
Next, add warmth and glow to your outdoor space with string lights like this vintage-style set. Not only do string lights combine ambiance and style, but they also provide an affordable outdoor lighting solution.
3. Plants
Potted plants and brightly colored blooms are a quick and easy way to add instant color to your space. Try adding a variety of annuals to a planter like this one, or if real plants aren’t your thing, try adding a mix of faux plants like this fiddle-leaf fig tree.
*Pro Tip: Use a variety of plants, either real or faux, to bring instant color and life to your patio space.
5. Accessories
And finally, for a finished look, add accessories like side tables, lanterns, a bar cart, or a fire pit to complete your space.
*Pro Tip: Carry a small tape measure in your bag to easily double-check dimension of all furniture and accessories.
