Tools And Supplies You Need To Make DIY Coastal Napkin Rings
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue Sticks
- Napkin Rings
- Starfish Shells (or whichever shell you like best)
How To Make DIY Coastal Napkin Rings
1 . Select Your Napkin Rings
I purchased my napkin rings this summer at the Dollar Store, but I’ve linked a few similar options for you here.
These braided jute napkin rings or these galvanized metal napkin rings would work great for this project and have a coastal feel.
Or, if you like the look of the metal and jute combined, you can glue a bit of craft twine onto your napkin rings before you add your shells.
And don’t forget there are always garage sales and thrift stores. (The perfect places to find inexpensive odds n ends!)
2 . Glue On Your Shells
Next, use your hot glue gun to add a small dab of glue to a napkin ring.
Then carefully attach one of the starfish shells. Hold the shell firmly in place for about a minute or so until the glue hardens.
This is what your finished napkin ring will look like. Here’s a view from the front.
And here’s another view from the side. Keep in mind that your napkin rings may look a bit different based on the size and type of shell you use. But that’s what makes this project fun. You can personalize them and make them your own!
3 . Style Your Napkin Rings
Once you’ve glued each of the shells onto your napkin rings, simply pull a napkin through each holder, and voila! You’re done.
This is what the finished DIY napkin rings look like on my coastal fall tablescape.
What do you think?
I’m so happy with how they turned out and think they add the perfect finishing touch.
