Italian Dinner Party
It’s time for one of my favorite posts of the month…supper club. If this is your first time to join one of our parties, each month, my blogging friends and I share two new posts that include ideas for styling a table and planning a menu based on a specific theme.
We’ve covered a range of holidays and seasons in the past. From tips to style a Saint Patrick’s Day dinner to ideas for how to host a spring garden party, and just about everything in between!
We have so many fun things planned for this year. I hope you’ll check back the last week of each month to join us. And if you need ideas for an upcoming event or would like to catch up on any of our past supper club parties, click [HERE].
This month’s theme is a bit different than anything we’ve done before. We’re going international with an Italian dinner party.
Everyone always comes up with the most unique and creative ideas. And this month is no different! Make sure to read this post until the end to see all of the tablescapes linked at the bottom of the page.

How To Host An Italian Inspired Dinner Party
I’ve never been to Italy. But, it’s on my bucket list of dream places to travel to someday. When I think of taking a trip there, I envision rustic decor, wine, and picturesque, rolling vineyards dotting the countryside.
So when I styled my table for this month’s supper club, I wanted to include decor that would give a subtle nod to some of the things that Italy is best known for.
If you’re looking to host a fun Italian inspired dinner party, here are a few ways to add some European flair to your table.
Use Warm Wood Tones And Natural Elements
To style your table, use a mix of natural elements and warm wood tones.
Start by laying a burlap table runner down the center of the dining room table. I love that burlap can be dressed up or dressed down and works for just about any style.
Black and white striped cotton napkins complement the burlap and build on the neutral color scheme. And olive branch napkin rings add a bit of color and life to each place setting.
The tablescape should have a classy yet casual feel, so the focus of the dinner party is on the two most important things. Your family and the food!
To keep spending to a minimum, try to reuse decor you already own, like these everyday cream stoneware dishes.
I love the scroll detail on the rim of the plates. It gives them a more elegant feel for special occasions like a family gathering, but they are still practical to use for day-to-day meals.
Next, add in some warm wood tones with a few mini breadboards. For the first course, tie some ciabatta bread with rosemary and place it on each board. The boards could also be personalized with each guests’ name to make for a fun and unique dinner party favor.
Create A Centerpiece With Thrifted Finds
Thrifted finds like this vintage soup tureen are an easy way to make a beautiful (and inexpensive) centerpiece.
Add some color and texture with some faux greenery like this fern, or you can purchase some flowers from the grocery store to make your own bouquet.
Add A Few Rustic Touches
Include a few rustic touches to bring some old-world charm to your table.
Use pieces that are aged or distressed like these galvanized metal chargers.
Don’t feel like you need to add too much. Look for sources of inspiration, and then add just a few accent pieces to complement your color palette.
Use Candles To Add Ambiance
And finally, no Italian inspired dinner party would be complete without some drippy candles to add a bit of ambiance.
For a rustic-chic look, mix and match your candle holders. Combine galvanized chunky taper holders with thrifted glass bottles to finish your dreamy tablescape.
