A Tour Of Our Cozy Christmas Porch
It’s that time of year again – to deck the halls both indoors and out!
One of my favorite places to decorate at Christmastime is our tiny cozy front porch! And, although it’s small in size, it’s big on cheer.
This year, I used simple and affordable holiday decor like faux garlands, mini Christmas trees, and outdoor lanterns to turn our small space into a cheerful and inviting winter wonderland.
So grab a warm cup of cocoa and join me on a tour of our cozy front porch decorated for Christmas.
Adding Charm With A Classic Christmas Wreath
Our front porch was looking a bit drab and dated, so I took the plunge last December and transformed it with a mini-porch makeover.
First on the list of things to receive a facelift? Our front door, which I painted a bold, dark color. I love how it sets off the brick and adds personality and charm to our home.
So, when December rolls around, I can’t wait to make our door the star of our cozy porch by hanging a classic Christmas wreath.
Rustic charm with a touch of holiday elegance is the theme in our home this Christmas. And my favorite pine wreath got a DIY makeover to match!
I tucked in some homemade dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and a few pinecones that were leftovers from my DIY Christmas chair wreath project.
For a pop of color, I speared some faux oranges on wood skewers and tucked them in the wreath. Then, to finish, I tied a bow using elegant copper ribbon and added a rustic gold bell swag.
Now it’s the perfect festive Christmas welcome for our cozy porch!
Swaging Christmas Garlands For A Festive Entrance
I love the look and smell of real pine garland, but sadly, it is usually dry and brown long before Christmas arrives.
So, instead, I opted for practically and used some beautiful faux garlands to drape around our door.
I’ve purchased several of these garlands over the years, and they look so real that it’s practically impossible to tell the difference between the faux version and the real deal.
And the best part? They last all winter long! When I’m ready to spruce up our porch in the spring, I just store them away for another year.
Decorating With Classic Christmas Greenery
I went all in with greenery this year to create a classic and cozy feeling on the porch for Christmas.
On the north side of our porch, I used siding clips to hang black metal wall planters filled with faux pine branches.
The metal planters are a staple on our itty bitty porch year-round. I simply swap out the greenery based on the season.
Just off the porch steps, I nestled a rustic wood crate among the landscaping rocks.
Then I filled with a few bundles of fresh holiday greenery that I grabbed from our local nursery along with some small birch logs.
One of my favorite things about our cozy porch is the mini Christmas trees! I don’t know if it’s the twinkling lights or the beautiful woven baskets, but somehow they make the whole space feel even cozier, don’t you think?
Adding Charming Finishing Touches
My porch needed a little extra Christmas cheer, so it was cute and cozy rugs to the rescue!
I layered a whimsical gingerbread doormat on top of a tan and cream-colored plaid rug to help our small porch feel extra warm and inviting.
And, my favorite black lanterns accented with some copper ribbon are the perfect finishing touch!
