Tender Oven Roasted Green Beans With Bacon
When it comes to Thanksgiving side dishes, green bean casserole is usually my go-to veggie. But, since I’ve packed on several pounds during the pandemic (argh!) I decided to opt for something a bit lighter this year.
This oven roasted green bean recipe fits the bill. With fresh beans, seasoning, and just a bit of bacon, it’s a simple and delicious dish that’s great to serve not only during the holidays but year-round!
Ingredients Tender Oven Roasted Green Beans With Bacon
- 1 pound fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 5 strips bacon cut into small pieces
Instructions Tender Oven Roasted Green Beans With Bacon
First, preheat your oven to 425℉. Then, while the oven preheats, trim your green beans. Rinse the beans under cold water and use kitchen shears to cut off the ends.
Next, toss the washed, trimmed, and fully dried green beans with the oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Spread the beans evenly on a baking sheet. Make sure to give them plenty of space so they can cook evenly. Use a second baking sheet if needed.
Place the baking sheet in the oven on the middle rack and roast the beans for 8 minutes.
Then, carefully remove the pan from the oven and stir the beans.
Add the cut bacon pieces and return the baking sheet to the oven for an additional 13 minutes.
When done, remove from the pan and transfer to a dish. Serve and enjoy immediately.
Tips For Roasting Green Beans
- Use the freshest geen beans possible. They should be firm and snap easily.
- Be sure to pat your green beans dry before roasting. Extra mositure can make them too soft.
- Don’t cram too many beans onto your baking sheet. Use two baking sheets if needed, espeically if doubling this recipe for a crowd!
