10 Simple Outdoor Summer DIYs
My husband and I love to get outdoors and tackle projects in the summer. We also love to dream and scheme about all of the big plans we have for our home. A deck, window boxes, and new landscaping are all on the wish list, but for now, we are starting small with just a few easy DIYs.
If you are looking for ideas for some projects, then you have come to the right place! Add instant curb appeal to your home and spruce up your outdoor spaces this summer with these 10 ideas for simple outdoor DIYs.
DIY Rain Barrel
This DIY rain barrel was one of the first projects I completed for the blog (with the help of my handy hubby, of course), and it is still one of my favorites. Anyone who has ever done a DIY project knows, the minute you think, “How hard can it be?” is the minute your project hits a snag. However, I can honestly say it was easy to build, and we finished it in just a few hours.
DIY Potting Bench Makeover
How gorgeous is this potting bench? It belongs to my friend Kelly at The Tattered Pew, and you won’t believe what it looked like before! If you have a piece that needs some TLC, go check out her blog to see how she took this potting bench from trash to treasure and read all of Kelly’s tips for painting and upcycling your own outdoor decor.
DIY Planter Box
This beautiful DIY planter box belongs to Ana at Fiddle Leaf Interiors. Ana’s instructions are easy to follow, making this the perfect project for even the most novice do-it-yourselfer. Visit Ana’s blog for all of the step-by-step details and the list of supplies needed to build your own.
DIY Green House
I would love to live on an acreage with a big garden and space for a greenhouse. But until that day comes, I will live vicariously through my friend Rachel from The Ponds Farmhouse. Can you believe Rachel and her husband built this stunning greenhouse from scratch? And the inside is just as pretty as the outside! Grab the plan’s for this DIY greenhouse and get more garden inspiration over on Rachel’s blog.
DIY Container Herb Garden
At number five on the list of 10 simple outdoor summer DIYs is my patio container herb garden. After a few years of successfully growing vegetables in our backyard garden, I decided that this summer, it was time to add some herbs to the mix. But, since space is at a premium in our garden, I knew I would need to be creative.
A small container garden is a perfect solution! This project is an easy DIY for beginning gardeners and fun to do with little ones too!
DIY Farmhouse Porch Planter Boxes
These beautiful planters from Jen at Noting Grace would look pretty on any porch or patio. And can you believe that she made them for only $25 each? Get all of the details to make your own over on Jen’s blog.
DIY Porch Swing
There is just something about a porch swing that says summer, isn’t there? And this DIY porch swing from Paula at Virginia Sweet Pea is giving me all of the summertime vibes. Swing by her blog (see what I did there?) to read her easy tutorial and build one for yourself!
DIY Scrabble Garden Markers
Here’s another fun project for your garden this summer…DIY garden markers made with scrabble tiles. They are super easy to make, and they are a great addition to our backyard garden.
DIY Cafe Light Pole Pots
I love the look of these DIY cafe light pole pots from Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage. This project is a great way to give your backyard patio or deck a custom feel on a budget! See more details and watch an easy instructional video on Shannon’s blog.
DIY Painted Concrete Patio
Refresh your backyard patio like my friend Bethany from Crisp Collective did with just a little bit of paint and some tape! That’s right. No stencil needed. Go to Bethany’s blog to read all of the details on this fun makeover and take your boring concrete from blah to beautiful!
