Tidbits from Home
Has school started where you live yet?
Kirk and the girls headed back to class last week, and so far the year is off to a great start!
It’s really nice having a quiet house during the day to focus on work, but I won’t lie – getting back into the swing of things has been tough for this momma.
I’m hoping we can find our rhythm with drop-offs, pick-ups, and after-school activities as September gets closer.
Last Thursday, we celebrated Kirk’s 40th birthday!
The girls and I surprised him by decorating his classroom with the help of his co-teacher.
And, to cap off the day, we enjoyed a special Star Wars-themed cookie cake—a perfect treat for the biggest Star Wars fan we know.
Speaking of getting back into the swing of things, you may have noticed that I took a little break from creating new content this summer to enjoy more time with my family.
BUT, I’m excited to start sharing new fall-inspired recipes and entertaining ideas with you.
Unfortunately, the rainy weather we’ve been having here in the Midwest lately is really slowing me down.
What’s the saying about best-laid plans? Ha!
All that said, thanks for hanging in with me, and keep your eyes peeled for new posts coming soon.

This Week on the Blog
The past two weeks have been hectic with the start of school, but I managed to squeeze in a few of my favorite late summer/early fall recipes from past seasons.
I have several favorite summer side dishes, but this cucumber and pasta salad recipe is at the top of the list.
The soft penne noodles combined with the refreshing crunch of cucumbers and a sweet, tangy dressing are a match made in pasta salad heaven.
Looking for a new salad to add to your fall meal rotation?
Then you need to try this autumn apple and pecan salad!
It’s perfect for fall get-togethers like an outdoor garden party, or a simple potluck.
Ready in less than 10 minutes, this apple and pecan salad is perfect when you need a quick and healthy recipe.
It’s also versatile enough to enjoy as a side dish or pack it up for a quick lunch on the go.
Coming Soon to MWLS
Our next Supper Club is just around the corner, and this time we’re all about game night!
I’ll be sharing a tasty new appetizer recipe and some unique tips for hosting an adult game night party.
Think retro vibes and 80s-inspired decor…it’s going to be so much fun, so stay tuned!

I was so surprised to see my lantern post among the other fabulous ideas. Thank you! Ann’s table is giving me all the autumn vibes and at 107 degrees, it can’t get here fast enough! Ugh.
Love the pics of the girls and even though the rain might be slowing you down, it seems like you had a full week with all you did. Birthdays are fun.
Thank you again for the feature. Hope this week is drier. 😉
