Tools And Supplies Needed To Make DIY Ghost Napkins
To create your own ghost napkins, you’ll need the following supplies:
How to Make Spooky and Festive Halloween Ghost Napkins
Step 1: Lay Out the Napkin
Start by laying your napkin flat on a hard surface. If your napkin is wrinkly (like mine was) I might recommend ironing or steaming it first.
Beyond this Halloween DIY, white napkins are versatile and can complement any table setting, no matter the celebration.
However, if you don’t own any, you can easily make your own with one yard of 45″ fabric from the craft store.
(This should be enough fabric to make four dinner-sized napkins.)
Step 2: Position the Foam Ball and Gather the Napkin
Place a 2″ foam ball in the center of the napkin.
This will become the head of your ghost.
Then, gently gather the edges of the napkin around the foam ball, creating a ghost-like shape.
Make sure to leave a bit of excess napkin at the top to resemble a ghost’s flowing “sheet.”
Step 3: Secure With Twine
Once you’re happy with the ghost’s shape, cut a piece of craft twine and tie it securely around the gathered napkin, just below the foam ball.
You can tie the twine in a bow, or leave it loose and flowing like I did.
Step 4: Fluff and Adjust
The last step is to fluff and just your napkin.
The fluffing will help give your ghost napkin a fuller and more ghost-like shape.
When you’re finished fluffing, place your ghost napkin next to a place setting on your table.
Then repeat the process again as many times as needed to create a whole spooky family of ghostly napkins for your dinner party!
And that’s it!
See?
I promised you this is an easy Halloween DIY craft that anyone can do.

Love the ghost napkins! Could you please explain the book pages? Is the bird a stamp? Thanks for this clever idea!
midwestlifeandstyle says
Hi Lou, Ann!
I’m so glad you like the napkins. I thought they added a fun and festive touch to my Halloween table. And they are SO simple to make! For the book pages, I created a design using software called Canva. Then I printed the design out on some old book pages. I need to make this a printable graphic to share, but until I can that done, you can read more about the book page place cards and the rest of my Halloween table here: https://www.midwestlifeandstyle.com/7-simple-tips-for-styling-a-boo-tiful-halloween-tablescape/
