How To Make Simple Lemonade Iced Tea
Also known as an Arnold Palmer, lemonade iced tea is a simple and refreshing drink that makes the perfect addition to any of your spring or summer meals.
All you need are four ingredients and 15 minutes to mix up a pitcher. Then chill, pour, and enjoy.
The recipe I’m sharing is non-alcoholic, but this classic drink can also be turned into a cocktail, too! (More n that in a bit.)
But for now here is everything you need to make a simple lemonade iced tea.
Ingredients For Simple Lemonade Iced Tea
For The Tea
- 3-4 black tea bags
- 2 cups boiling water (for the tea)
- 2 cups cold water
For The Lemonade
- 3/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 and 1/4 cups cold water
How To Make Simple Non-Alcoholic Lemonade Iced Tea
First, pour 2 cups of water into a microwave-safe glass measuring cup. Soak 3-4 black tea bags in the water and bring to a boil (about 2 minutes).
Carefully remove the water and let the tea steep for about 5-10 minutes. Once the tea is done, remove the used tea bags and throw them away.
Pour the tea into a pitcher, add 2 more cups of cold water, stir, and set aside while you make the lemonade.
In a separate pitcher, combine 3/4 cup of lemon juice, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 3 and 1/4 cups of cold water.
Stir the lemonade until all the sugar is dissolved. Next, pour the pitcher of lemonade into the iced tea mixture and stir to combine.
Put the lemonade iced tea in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours to flavor and chill. When you are ready to serve, pour it into glasses over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge and sprig of fresh mint.
How To Make Spiked Lemonade Iced Tea
I prefer just the plain ole’ lemonade iced tea, but if you want to kick yours up a notch, you can add a splash of alcohol.
You can use bourbon or vodka to make an adult version of this sweet and refreshing drink.
To make a spiked drink add one ounce of bourbon OR one ounce of lemon-flavored vodka per class. Then use a drink stirrer to mix the alcohol into the tea.
When To Serve Lemonade Iced Tea
You can serve this tea any time of year, but I think it tastes best after a warm spring or summer day.
Of course, you don’t need to host a get-together to mix up a pitcher.
But if you love a good party, here are a few celebrations where lemonade iced tea would make an excellent addition to your party menu.
