Beat the end of summer blues with these 5 fun ways to celebrate the new school year with your family.

5 Fun Ways To Celebrate The New School Year
I feel like a bit of a broken record, here, but I can’t believe that the summer is almost over! Wasn’t it just the 4th of July?
Since my husband and girls go back to school on Monday, I thought it would be fun to share 5 ideas for ways to celebrate the new school year.
Try these ideas with your own family, or share them with your friends who have kiddos heading back to school this fall.
Plan A Special Breakfast
Over the years, donuts have become our first day of school breakfast tradition. But last year I also styled this simple breakfast bar to kick off the start of a new year.

I chose to keep the menu for the breakfast bar simple with just a few basics like fresh fruit, milk, juice, and cereals, but you could serve a hot breakfast too.

Or take advantage of the weather and enjoy a quick breakfast outdoors like my friend Kelly from the Tattered Pew did.
Make A Gift For The Teacher
For both of my girls, a new school year usually means a few nerves. Help calm the butterflies and get your kids excited to head back to the classroom by creating a simple teacher survival kit.

Teachers often request donations throughout the year if supplies run low, so items like tissues, hand sanitizer, sharpies, and pencils are all great things to include.

Harper loved helping me make this last year. And it was a big hit with her teacher too!

Or, if you’re not feeling crafty, check out my friend Bethany at Crisp Collective. She has a bunch of cute (and free!) printable gift card holders that you can print at home and give to your child’s teacher on the first day of school.
Create A Back to School Basket
I adore this idea from my friend Nicolle at Our Tiny Nest.

Make the new year extra special with a back-to-school-basket. Fill it with some of your child’s favorite things, or include stuff that they might want or need like a new outfit for the first day, a water bottle, or classroom supplies.
Prepare Your Family’s Favorite Snacks
One of the first things my girls ask for at the end of each day is a snack.

If your kiddos love to raid the kitchen as much as mine do, try making a fun school-themed treat like these pencil wafer cookies from Life By Leanna.

Or make some snacks ahead of time like my friend Emily at The Handmade Farmhouse. Mix and match some of your family’s favorite foods for a quick on-the-go snack choice.
Take First Day Of School Photos
This one may seem like a no-brainer, but don’t forget to take photos!
Okay…maybe this one is more fun for the moms and dads out there. But it’s not the start of a new year without those first-day pics to help celebrate!

Here is my girls’ first day of school photos from last year. It’s always so fun to see how much they change throughout the year. I look forward to continuing this tradition in just a few days!
